Penrose Sailmakers
To celebrate 200 years of trading Penrose Sailmakers sponsored an all classes regatta on the longest day of the year Saturday 21st. June 2025. Penrose’s have been making sails for two hundred years (since 1825) in Falmouth. They had lofts at Mulberry Quay, then at Upton Slip and now in a modern loft on the Bickland Water Industrial Estate. Not many lofts can boast such a long trading history from Packet Ships to Modern
Racing Superyachts.
Gavin Watson the Owner Director was master of ceremonies assisted by his loyal workforce ashore and the Flushing Race team afloat.
The racing started in light airs with several of B class boats called back for being over the line at the start, unfortunately Florence didn’t respond and went on to sail a superb race for a podium place only to not be timed in. During the race the wind swung from southerly to southwesterly and increased with close racing.
There were eight 28ft. boats and three 23ft. Boats. Stella’s first race having been afloat since the beginning of the season and Nellie May who only launched the day before!
Line honours went to Meloris, then Moon and Victory.
