The unpredictable weather at the end of a record breaking heatwave was forecasting strong easterly winds and possible showers. It was not to be, the Sunday turned out to have a moderate to light easterly wind and sunshine. Perfect!

Starting on the Flushing outer line John Maunder and his race team gave the two fleets a course with two lovely beats to windward in the harbour with a run home to the Flushing Club Line making a splendid sight for the whole of Flushing and Falmouth. In B Class it was Meloris, Sam Heard, that led the fleet home with Rebecca, Norman Bowers sailing brilliantly in close pursuit. In Class it was one of the hardest fought battles of the season with four boats crossing the line in close succession.

On handicap corrected times it was:

B Class

1st. Rebecca, 2nd. Winnie, 3rd. Meloris

C Class

1st. Leila, 2nd. Juanita, 3rd. Lottie, 4th. Iris Elizabeth

All competitors assembled at Flushing Sailing Club House for the prize giving of two silver Memorial Cups donated by Graham’s son Tim and presented by his daughter Tracy. The cups were duly filled from the bar and everyone enjoyed a bounty of delicious pasties.
